What's not included

Things we won't pretend are included.

Most agencies bury these in the small print. We list them up front, because surprises in invoicing are the fastest way to lose trust.

  • Pass-through API costs. Claude, OpenAI, Twilio, ElevenLabs, etc. — billed at provider rates with no markup.
  • SaaS subscriptions. Customer.io, Zapier, n8n hosting, BigQuery, etc. — under your account.
  • Phone numbers. Twilio numbers, toll-free routing — your account, our setup.
  • Hardware. Servers, GPUs, headsets, kiosks, laptops. We're software people.
  • Out-of-scope custom dev. Mobile apps, full marketing sites, complete rebuilds — we'll refer you out.
  • Anyone-but-us professional services. Legal, accounting, design agencies, recruiters — out of our lane.
  • Marketing campaigns. We build the systems; you (or your agency) run the strategy.
  • Compliance certifications. SOC2, ISO27001 — we help architect, you sponsor the audit.
Commercial fine print

How payment actually works.

When does the clock start?
After the audit, when we both sign the engagement letter. The audit itself is free and yours to keep regardless. We don't bill on "discovery hours." If we don't ship anything within 30 days of starting, you don't pay anything.
How is billing handled?
Invoiced monthly in advance. Net 15. Stripe, ACH, or wire. We work with finance teams that need PO numbers and 30-day terms — just ask.
What about pass-through API costs?
Always at provider rates with zero markup. We pass through the receipts. Expect API spend in the $50–600/month range depending on volume, models, and use case. We send a monthly breakdown showing each provider, model, and what was used for what.
Can we cancel?
Sprout: month-to-month, cancel any time. Engine: month-to-month with one month's notice. Embedded: 3-month minimum, then 60-day notice. We hand off everything cleanly — code, configs, dashboards, documentation. You own what we build.
What about price increases?
Tier pricing is locked for the duration of your engagement. We may adjust list prices for new clients periodically; existing clients keep their original rate unless they upgrade tier.
Is there a referral program?
Yes. Refer a paying client and get either: $1,500 credit on your next invoice, or one month free. We honor either choice; pick whichever helps you most. We don't gate this — past, present, or future clients all qualify.
Do you do equity / revenue-share deals?
In rare cases, for early-stage companies where the cash math doesn't work but the project is genuinely interesting. It's not the norm — but email us if you think your case applies.
What about non-profits / educational?
30% discount across all tiers for verified 501(c)(3)s and accredited educational institutions. The rest of the engagement works exactly the same. Email us with your tax-exempt letter.
What currencies do you bill in?
USD by default. EUR or GBP available on request — exchange rate fixed at engagement start, locked for 12 months. Other currencies on a case-by-case basis.
